The Story Behind …

Our keepsake teddy bear.

Inspired by a Christmas tree ornament that measures height with a ribbon each year, Cory and I wanted to be different and decided to replicate the idea. But for newborns. Because who doesn’t love babies (and more importantly everyone, including myself, loves to buy things for babies!) We should keep on shopping because an anthropologist found that gift giving can cultivate human connection.

Back to our bear, we spent quite some time perfecting our poem on the bear. It turns out Cory is a poet and I didn’t even know it.

Our bear reads:

“This ribbon is very special,

Unwind and see,

It’s the same size,

As when the world met me!”

It comes with a ribbon so new parents can measure out the baby's length and wrap it back around the bear to treasure.

So why isn’t it listed on our Etsy page and why isn’t it always being posted about like our “I Love Being Yours” plaque or layered grizzly bear? That I’m sure everyone else is as obsessed with us as us. Well we went through a few versions of the bear and at one point he had no face but then we added one and I was never able to get over that he wasn’t cutesy. The bear is very cute… but isn’t cutesy if that makes any sense.

And for that reason… our keepsake teddy bear remains in the R&D phase… until we can perfect his sweet little face.
